Sylvia Day

Sylvia Day is an American-Swiss-Brazilian actress, writer, comedienne, cabaret artist, improv coach, producer, director, singer, pianist and ambassador best known for her spot-on accents and hilarious impersonations - of which she has over 50 and counting!

Sylvia began her career in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota where she attended the University of St. Thomas and received a BA in Speech, Telecommunications and Theater. She trained in improv and sketch writing at Second City in Chicago and Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City.

In 1995, she moved to Zurich and began performing with the Zurich Comedy Club. In 2010, Sylvia founded The IMPROVables, the first English-speaking improv troupe in Zurich. Her first production “50 Shades of DAY!” which she wrote, directed, choreographed and starred in, opened on March 15, 2013. The variety/sketch comedy show was a smashing success - selling out in just a few weeks and requiring an extra performance. Due to popular demand, the show transferred to the larger Boulevard Theater on June 15 and again played to a full house and rave reviews, as did her holiday special "50 Shades of (Christmas) DAY!". Her latest holiday show "I'll Be Home Alone for Christmas!" performed to sell-out crowds in December 2014 in Zurich. In August 2014, her hit solo show "50 Shades of DAY!" had its US premiere at The Acorn Theater, and in October 2015 she made her Off-Broadway debut at New York's highly acclaimed Theatre Row as part of the United Solo Theatre Festival. In 2015 Sylvia performed at the first TEDxZurichWomen for which she was written about in Zurich's acclaimed NZZ, and a month later performed her 2-hour comedy variety show "Summer of Love" which closed to full houses and rave reviews. She closed the year by bringing back the true cabaret art form to historic Cabaret Voltaire with "Christmas at the Cabaret". In 2016 she performed at the new ComedyHaus in Wilde Weiber! in German, and besides being busy with private and corporate events and workshops, she recently sold out her highly anticipated political comedy "50 Shades of (Election) DAY!" on November 1 at Kaufleuten and repeated it on Election Day itself!
